A Challenge Calling for Immediate Action
Even if food production is abundant, hunger is still one of the biggest problems, affecting
millions of lives. 36.9% of people live in food insecurity. About 40% of children under the age of
five are stunted, 29% are underweight, and 18% of children under the age of five suffer from
acute malnutrition. A minimum of four different food groups are included in each meal that only
one in seven children aged six to twenty-three months receives, and around 82% of children do
not receive the necessary number of meals per day. These are all far below acceptable levels for
complementary feeding indicators.
The conviction that every person, everywhere, deserves to live free from hunger and malnutrition
is the basis of our mission to achieve Zero Hunger.
